I am interested in senior technical roles in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Web-based information systems. After many years in the development and maintenence of complex systems, starting with the IBM DB/2 product and culminating in Unix filesystem kernel development, I have found development for the Inernet to be a refreshing change. It's exciting to be able to see the results. At the same time, there is a high level of complexity and plenty of room for somebody with a good sense of how systems go together (and fall apart).

My experience allows me to view a project end-to-end, and to contribute all along the way. Whether the issue is balky hardware, OS patch-level problems, the architecture of content directory structure, or anything in between, I can usually help.

For those things which are outside the realm of direct experience, it's usually no problem coming up to speed quickly. After a while, one gets to know how things work in computing, and the new begins to look familiar.

At this stage of my career, what is most important to me in an employment relationship is the 'match.' We spend about a third of our lives at work, and a whole lot of time outside of work thinking about work. Life is far too short to spend a third of it unhappy, or even uncomfortable. Certainly not when we have a choice.

In addition, when the 'match' is good, I'm at my best. It's those times when I'm creative, good to work with, and can help bring people together.
